Whenever I think…..
2011 TIME!
Well I’ll be posting a lot more on here this year. A lot of things are going to go on that I’m sure I’ll want to talk about. There’s always the new music that will be in my head, The many ways I’ll be changing my life, some more things I’ll fall in love with, and I’m sure there’s going to be more nasty/crude stories and situations to write about (yes, I have finally decided that I will indeed blog about ALL of the Poop Talk I may experience this year).
So…the goal is to post whenever I think of something. To do it instantly, pretty much like the way I do on my tumblr.
We’ll see what happens. I hope all my friends had a good time partying.
The thing about the “Facebook generation” ….
My sister tells me about an article she read the other day that says the “Facebook generation” 16 to 24 year olds are the Loneliest age group right now.
I said…really? My sister thought that it made sense since going online has replaced face to face conversations for this generation.
But this supposed study raised the question in my head …. Are they lonely because they use facebook? or do they use facebook because they’re lonely?
If the answer is yes for the first part then my sister’s rationalization would be right. If the answer is yes for the second part then that means that something else is contributing to this generation’s loneliness, therefore facebook is in fact the solution to their sad situation…..if only for a few hours.
My sister stopped and thought about it.”Yeah…You have a point.”
I finally checked it out …And yes I do.
Read this article.
The part that stands out the most to me is:
When asked what made them unhappy, 70 per cent said finances topped their list of concerns, while more than 66 percent were worried about holding down a job.
Despite the lack of evidence in this research to suggest that their loneliness has anything to do with lack of face to face time, they add this quote by a psychologist to the article in an attempt to drive their point home.
There’s nothing wrong with social networking, but if it’s used instead of face-to-face meetings or phone calls than it can be very isolating
Here’s the thing about facebook. It’s just like anything else. You either use things the right way or you use things the wrong way. Honestly some people act as if there were never any lonely people before facebook or the internet. Loners have always existed. People who fake it to the world and aren’t honest with themselves have always existed. Get over it.
The reason that it gets me a little peeved is because it kind of is one of my pet peeves. Nothing annoys me more than talk just for the sake of talking. Nothing annoys me more than someone who talks a whole lot …..of nothing. Those people that just HAVE to feel their mouths move at every single moment…you know the people I’m talking about.
These people, because they don’t understand that the rest of the world has better things to do than to sit through meaningless chatter, are the ones who press the issue about how “bad” the internet is or how “out of touch” we are with eachother. Give me a break.
Like I said some people will use facebook in the least productive ways but….I’ve been on facebook since it started when it was just for colleges and I’ve realized that most people use it in really great ways. Texting, facebooking, blogging are the best ways to communicate. Why? Because we use them as a way to be more efficient with our conversations.
No more awkward silences or short general chit chats, No more hours of “talking” on the phone when all both of you want to do is hang up but you don’t want to upset your bff /gf /bf. No more stopping everything else you’re doing just to say “What’s Up?” and touch base. Those days are over if you want them to be. When we speak, it means something. Whether that something is an opinion on the biggest current event or making plans on a Saturday, there’s a reason behind anything we type at all.
We don’t waste time when we communicate. We get down to the business. And when you really think about it most actual talking is really a waste of time. We could be doing something else instead of staying still listening to you. I mean, get a blog, write your thoughts on it, tell your friends, they’ll learn about you on their time. ….which in fact is a very considerate thing to do.
The lack of face to face time is obviously a money issue. Hello! Exhibit A….ME.
If it wasn’t for this I would feel so ….”grey”… When I started this blog it was because I had to find a way to express myself and chat with like minded people. I wanted to find a way to be close to friends without having to be there at all….because I could barely be there at all …..because I had no money to constantly be around socializing.
So in closing facebook/technology haters really need to shut it….haha…
Thanks for reading my rant if you did. …..My friend
It’s 2:24 am. I’m going to bed. Night.
I’ll be back….
Please excuse the slacking….
I’ve got an 8yr old computer. Nuff said right? haha. I am very grateful it works though.
Saving up for a new one.
It’s a little harder to take the time to find content or to type so much when ur on a computer that can be very slow at times.
So…..
Lately I’ve been posting random stuff on my OTHER BLOG. It’s easier for now…Cause I’ve been busy.
More on that soon. bye.
Bye Mundial…
And so it ends today. There were alot of great matches. I especially loved USA vs. Algeria as well as USA vs. Ghana and Japan vs. Paraguay was CRAZY!! I heard alot about Uruguay vs. Ghana but I was out when that one came on.
This was probably the best World Cup I’ve ever seen because there were no guaranteed winners.
None of the 7 teams to have ever won a World Cup are in the Final and I think that’s a testament to the way the whole thing went down.
This was the World Cup of the Underdog. I loved every minute of it.
And I loved that many other Americans really got a taste of Football Passion. Yay!
USA’s SWEET Taste of Football Passion.
Slowly but surely…haha..
The World Cup is here!
The games begin this Friday but there will be an Opening Concert tomorrow at 2pm with a few artists.
ESPN and Univision will be airing it.
And now…this World Cup’s Anthem….
New Layout
I wanted an easier way for people to look through all my posts. I will be writing more often now. My computer is much faster now. hahaha.
Did I ever mention that my computer is like …8yrs old?
Yeah, it’s a trooper. It’s amazing. haha.
The weather’s better on my end so I’m happy.
You could also check out my other blog. It’s more random than this one.
I take my time and write more on here. The posts over there are just “tid-bits”
So in other words:
“Tid-bits” Go there.
“Stories, details” Stay here. lol
later.
To Who Cares
Hi.
Well I haven’t written in quite a while. I’d love to say that I’ve found a job but I still don’t have one. And at this point I am doing stuff but really I just figure what else is there to talk about?
My anxieties are the same and I’ve posted them already.
The one thing I’ve been doing a lot of is reading….about anything. I would post that on here but I usually post things when I have something to say about them but I haven’t been reading things that would really warrant a reaction.
Anyways, I will try to post what I read anyway and will hopefully post any new developments that may come up.
Til then, come by once a week. hahaha.
Have a Nice Day.
Be the Monkey Wrench
I read this article that Lady Gaga tweeted, an interview with the girl she made out with in her “Telephone” video. Her name is Heather Cassils. I thought it was great. They talked about many things, what it was like on set, as well as what she does. I thought it was cool that Heather is a performance artist.
I started off as a painter and a drawer, but I now do performance art, and I know that sounds absolutely terrifying, like you imagine people shoving yams up their asses, but I think of my work as moving paintings essentially. There aren’t a lot of massive, sweeping actions. It’s more like I use the fact that the image is live to try to capture and transfix people, because people can walk away from a painting. I do portraits of sorts.
I also loved her philosophy about how to manipulate imagery and the way people feel about things thus helping to change the world a bit.
Gone are the days when if you’re against the war you go and protest on the street. Protesting doesn’t stop wars anymore. Going to your gay pride rally is nice — it makes you feel good, but unfortunately we don’t live in that era anymore. The only way you can create social change is to insert yourself into the machine.
(interviewer) Right. And cast yourself as a monkey wrench.
Exactly.
I agree that rallies and things are nice and I agree with Heather that we don’t live in that world anymore. For a long time I’ve felt that those kinds of approaches seem to aggravate people more than ease them into something at least, as Heather says, nowadays.
Presenting “Monkey Wrenches” was the reason I decided to stop studying print journalism and started getting into video. It’s a lot harder to keep images from being exposed and therefore much harder to be indifferent about it. You sometimes have to read, at the very least, a paragraph or two of an article to have understanding and therefore react to it. On the other hand, you don’t have to want to watch an Image. It’s there, part of your environment and therefore you must absorb it. That’s just the way orientation works.
There are just a few examples that I thought of right away when she talked about being the change within the machine. I thought of when I was about 13 years old at the movies watching “Spawn” and my older sister proudly pointed out to me how much she loved that “Spawn” had an interracial couple and didn’t emphasize it.
I think about how much more I loved the show “24″ when I started seeing it because they had a black president. It may be funny, silly but I almost feel like they helped Obama get elected because in a way they eased in the image of a black president in the minds of many people.
People think that these things don’t matter and that they’re hilariously insignificant. Are they? Think about psychology. Haven’t there been many times when you associated something you did or a reaction, an addiction with something insignificant? Something like stress? Such a simple answer yet right there in that one word so many underlying “insignificants”. “Stress” you could ask. “Stress from what?” “What about that makes you feel stressed?” And then next thing you know your reaction or circumstance was because of what you associate with “being powerful” which is due to the way your much bigger stronger brother had treated you all of your life.
Hahaha pretty weird huh? Yeah I know but it happens. The more chaotic things may become the more you may realize how they are connected to the way you were conditioned. You didn’t know it at the time. You thought he was just being a jerk. But here you are, years later wondering how you got into this mess in the first place.
Everything you see, everything you hear, every place you find yourself has significance. And it seems the more subtle it is, the more powerful it becomes.
Boom Mic Creator
Interesting fact I found on Biography.com

INVENTING THE BOOM MICROPHONE:
Dorothy Arzner
The longest-working and most respected female director of her time in Hollywood, Arzner directed Clara Bow in “The Wild Party” (1927), a female buddy movie that was Paramount’s first talkie. On that set, she devised a boom microphone. Arzner also directed movies starring Katharine Hepburn and Joan Crawford.
….See? Look at that. If It wasn’t for a woman we wouldn’t have a boom mic….And I love that thing. hahaha.
Fat Granny
So I was about to put some pics on facebook from my phone and my niece takes a look at some of the pics.
Apparently I look like a “Fat Granny” in this picture.

lol maybe I do since I rolled up my sweater in order to shorten the length.
Do I look like a “Fat Granny”?
a.) Yes
b.) No
What Women Can Learn From Men
I’ve seen my share of drama between a circle of girlfriends and have wondered why I don’t seem to find myself in these situations. And then I thought “oh..I have more guy friends.” I have girl friends now but I’ve realized hanging out with guys for so long and observing them has proven to be really beneficial for my own life. I’d like to share some of the things I’ve learned from men.
WHAT WOMEN CAN LEARN FROM BEING MORE LIKE MEN.
SILENCE CAN BE A GOOD THING
What women can learn from men is that silence doesn’t have to be awkward. Don’t try to talk so much. It just means there’s nothing interesting to be said at that moment. It can also mean that all is clear and out in the open between people. So don’t get anxious if say you’re with someone in a car talking and then fall into a silence. Turn up the volume and listen to music until you find some inspiration. Then talk again
Lesson: Silence can actually mean someone’s comfortable or satisfied.
A “THREAT” IS A GREAT MOTIVATOR, SO DON’T BE A HATER
Women for the most part have a hard time getting comfortable with the idea that there are other women who are “prettier”, “smarter”, “have a better outfit”..etc. I’ve seen two men compete for the same woman and still be friends. I’ve also seen the girl who’s unknowingly getting hit on by her girlfriend’s crush get the silent treatment for a week or …forever.
One of the things men could teach women is that it’s more fun to be friends with someone who compels you to do your best and that you’re not always going to be the most desirable person around.
Lesson:Learn from the people who’ve one upped you.
If she’s wearing the coolest shoes compliment her and ask her where she got them. It will only help you in the end. It’s also so much sweeter to be able to rub it in when you do something better than your thre- I mean friend.
LIVE AND LET LIVE
Stop gossiping. I’ve heard plenty of men tell their girl to shut up because they can’t tolerate another second of her saying “ugh! what was she thinking wearing…?” or whatever. Usually guys reply “because she’s happy in it now shut up!”
If women observed men more often they’d realize it’s very rare to hear a guy talking about their disapproval of a friend’s behavior unless it’s drugs, or anything else that can get them into trouble.
Lesson: Unless their actions are directly affecting you or physically harming them, don’t worry about it.
CHICKS BEFORE….SOME DUDE.
This is very similar to the second “lesson” because women need to be more supportive of each other. Men have this understanding that relationships are not going to last forever and so they will always make time for their friends. Most men if given an ultimatum (ur friends or me) usually go with their friends no matter how in love they find themselves. If you are the type that is completely M.I.A because you’re in love, men could definitely help you find a better balance.
Lesson: Always make time for friends especially when you’re in love. You will most likely be single again so don’t lose touch.
WHAT WATCHING SPORTS CAN DO FOR YOU
I’ve been watching more sports lately and I am starting to get the appeal so this is going to be based on my experience.
I’ve started to understand the games better. Because of this, I get more excited when someone does an amazing play or makes a touchdown/wins. Seeing all the benefits of being “active” inspires me to seek my own reward for doing something and then next thing you know, I’m feeling restless and want to get up and do something, anything productive that involves moving around.
Lesson: Watching people being very active can inspire you to become more productive.
Almost every guy I know that’s really into watching a sport or many sports have also turned out to be into building stuff, doing yard work or any other type of labor. That’s not to say that guys who don’t watch are not being active but it’s just a trend I’ve noticed. Sports or watching any competition gives you energy.
MAKE IT QUICK
When speaking or making requests be as blunt as possible. When telling a story, tell it in as little words as possible. Why? Well, because we haven’t got all day, that’s why. I’ve always found it funny when I see a woman who has to sit the person down to make sure they are focusing on them just so she can tell them what happened at the grocery store that day. ( There are some women who will truly ask “are you ready?” before starting.) Being blunt, making straightforward requests, and condensing stories to ” drove to dunkin donuts, red light, saw the Hugest horse galloping. Why was a horse in the ghetto?” instead of something much longer makes it more likely that the other person will understand you right away instead of going “Wait, what were you saying?”
Lesson: The less you say, the less you have to repeat it.
Lesson: Make it short and sweet so that we can all move on with our lives.
UNCOMFORTABLE? LEAVE ….NOW!
If men can leave an uncomfortable situation they will and why not? Why should they have to deal with some girl nagging about this and that? Why should they have to deal with a friend who’s acting like an idiot at a party? Why should they have to deal with working at a bad job if they don’t have to? Why should any of us deal with anything we can’t stand?
One of the biggest things we women have a hard time with is leaving a bad situation. For example, many girlfriends stay with boyfriends that are no good because we are thinking about every excuse in the book to stay instead of acknowledging that no matter the reason, if we don’t like it, we gotta go. That doesn’t just go for relationships that goes for anything. I’ve noticed most men are pretty good at being objective about their own lives especially when they get negative vibes.
Lesson: If you’re feeling angry, frustrated, etc often…then it’s bad for you. If leaving is an option, take it.
Sometimes men get a bad rep from women. But I think it’s safe to say women don’t have all the answers. Women could learn how to be more efficient and level headed.
Model/Extras Work on Craigslist are Scammers
So because of the stories that I’ve heard of legit production companies and shows posting ads on Craigslist, I finally caved in and warily, decided to give it a try. When I went on and searched I saw there really was nothing for me. However, I saw that there were posts looking for extras or models for a small shoot here and there. I responded to about seven of them. I figured they may be scams but eh, why not? What if they weren’t? And then I could at least do something that would give me money…..right? WRONG! WRONG!!
So I get a call from “Shannon” working for “Wcasting” asking if I’d like to schedule an appointment. She asked me when was a good time for the following day. I responded by asking her what they did or what kinds of things they worked for….something like that. She said “oh Law and Order. Tv shows like that.” So I was all like “ok.” So I set it up for noon the following day and she gave me the address. “224 West 35th Street between 7th and 8th.” She told me and I was like ” ok see you then” .
I always check the stuff online so I got on my computer and checked it out on Google. Wcasting had no website. Nothing showed up, just a bunch of random sites. So I typed in the address. I go to the first link which is the Google Maps link and underneath the address and map are the reviews. The first thing that I read is SCAM! There were about 5 reviews about how they were scammed into giving like 100 dollars for some crappy pictures. Then they get escorted out a back door.
I go on some other links and I found even more reviews.
So here are the links that I found.
Wcasting or World Model Talent or whatever other name they call themselves, it’s all fake.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/world-model-talent-new-york
http://local.yahoo.com/info-40762789-model-talent-network-new-york
I obviously didn’t go. That was last week. I was just thinking how it sucks because I know I’m going to be pestered by yet another “Casting agency” on my phone. Ugh.
Said and done, today I get another call from some lady. She sounded like a white older lady.
She’s all like “Hi is this eh…..IsaBella.”
I’m like “Yes it is”.
“I see you responded to our catalog shoot. Are you union or are you working with an agent?”
“No”
” Well would you like to schedule an appointment to see us sometime today like at 3?” (It was already almost 2pm)
“oh I can’t do it today.”
“Well how about tomorrow?”
” Well I’d like to know a few things like Who am I speaking with? What do you guys do you know…”
“Listen would you like our number so you can reach us when you decide to see us?”
” yeah”
“ok, It’s 212 -576-8811. Bye”
“who are you? “ (click)
She hung up quick as hell.
So I googled the number. Another scam. Thankfully this woman decided to blog about her experience with a “model casting agency” and all of the blog responders shared theirs as well.
Here’s the Link to that.
http://somesmallsense.blogspot.com/2006/09/model-casting-scam.html
If you want to do something regarding entertainment, Craigslist is not it. Sure there may have been shows that really use it but I’d rather not be inconvenienced with a bunch of stupid phone calls and voicemails from these idiots.
I just feel bad for all those who get suckered into giving money to these people.
If you want to model, go to an agency you’ve heard of like Ford Models or something. In some ways, not doing so is taking the easy route( which doesn’t exist)….and this is what happens.
Acting…again go to an agent you may have heard of before.
If you are a woman, be wary of Craigslist. A lot of the scamming is about money but hey …you never know if those posts are luring you into something much worse.
Y U Slow?: What’s Coming Soon.
OK I feel like I need to update people on why the hell I haven’t written about things like the Grammys or The State of the Union Address. The Biggest Reason: My Computer is slow as hell. I might as well be on 56k…seriously. And since a job is more important…..you get it.
COMING SOON…
Though overdue, I will still be posting something up about the Grammys. I am in the process of condensing the State of the Union address and getting background info on the legislation that was mentioned. Kind of Like a Cliff’s Notes….uh…Izzy’s Notes 4 Politics.
And since it’s we are approaching Valentines Day and it’s Black History Month…I am going to talk about love and in some ways explore my own ethnicity. So yeah. Slowly but surely. Perhaps checking me out on Thursdays or Weekends are best this month.
Just thought I’d give you a heads up.
Bye.
The Thing about Twitter
So I decided to go on twitter a few days ago. At first it was a protected (private) account. After a few days I decided to go public. I had some concerns about it and I’ll talk about that on this post.
So I went on twitter.I found a couple of friends and I’m following my favorite people. I had also decided to protect my twitter account. I guess I was just used to doing that because that’s the way my other accounts are set up.
However, in a matter of days, I realized that maybe this wasn’t the best idea and that my twitter should be public because:
1) only 5 out of the 200 friends I have are on twitter and I want a balance between my # of following and followers.
2) anyone I may want to respond to can’t reply to me unless they request me and I can see how that makes communicating more of a pain in the ass.
3) I see how fun it is to reply to people right away and I want to do that with more people.
You would think that these reasons convinced me. It kind of did but I think it would be a good idea to voice my concerns about a public twitter just in case anyone ( especially a woman) wants to do public but is hesitant.
MY CONCERNS ABOUT PUBLIC TWITTER
I’ve had public accounts on other sites and so I kind of know what it’s like. Random people start talking to you, especially men. So far I’ve had nice experiences, nothing awkward. But I guess as a woman you can’t help but imagine these scenarios where someone is trying really hard to find out everything about you. That’s the main concern I think for anyone especially a woman.
However,
oddly enough when it comes to twitter I don’t really get that vibe. Most people aren’t really beat to remember you or follow you unless you are or look like a celebrity. On twitter I’ve seen tons of accounts with people who actually have their full name and ….I can’t remember a single one. I’m assuming it’s the same with everybody else.
The other thing about twitter is that it’s really more of a place to voice your opinions about current events. Currents events could be News, celebrity news, or some crazy, funny crap that you just saw or that you just experienced.
It’s not really a place where you put random pics of you partying every weekend unless it has some importance or quirk to it. That’s what I’ve noticed so far. This really helps prevent disclosing too much information about yourself.
Conversations, searches and rss feeds.
On twitter if you’re public EVERYTHING’s public. People can read your conversations and things like that. At first this was disturbing but then I thought ” Well what the hell would I talk about that could be considered so incriminating?”
I mean, I’m not a teacher or in some other profession where you have to be all serious so who cares?
Then I remembered, “Oh…Direct Messages” I would only talk in depth with those I’m kind of close to or to my followers anyways….and so would you. There’s your loophole.
After that, I got over it.
So in conclusion as long as you use twitter as commentary on things (which is the point) then it’s fine.

“Jersey Shore” no worse than “The Real World”, Might be better.
So I just finished watching the show Jersey Shore on MTV. I saw the commercial a few weeks ago and was curious about watching it.
People were making this big deal about it…Oh it’s going to be so bad, trashy..etc. Seriously it’s not worse than the real world.
The format is exactly the same. They just put a bunch of “guidos” and “guidettes” in a house together. They have to work at a t-shirt place on the boardwalk and they party, have sex…blah blah blah.
At least it was more entertaining than the real world. This first episode was a two hour special and there were so many things going on that I don’t really even know where to start.
So I’m just going to go all over the place….because it’s late. Bare with me.
Ok. Little short girl “snookie”, everyone in the house calls her shnookums or snickers because they can’t get her name right. LOL
The girl acted like …total slops when she got there getting drunk right away and tried to hook up with everybody….even the girl roomates in the Jacuzzi. Nobody was having that. Ronnie, Vinny, all of the guys turned her down.
did they just get conservative on us? I mean compared to the real world?
Yeah they did. I recall the first day of a Real World starting out with a hook up between roomates in a jacuzzi. Two girls were making out with a guy watching to be specific. I can’t remember the name of that one even though I saw that season. There was Vegas where Trishelle and what’s his name hooked up.
Yet none of that happened here….at least not between roomates…yet. Pauly D and JWoww ( hahahaha) are definitely going to have sex.
Anyway, my point is that “Jersey Shore” is actually not that bad. It’s no different than “The Real World”. They might even behave better…..we’ll see.
My opinion on the cast
Snookie was acting up for the camera and went a little too far. She took a break then went attention hunting again….by being the first girl to bring a guy home….who threw up in the roof hang out area. LOL! She deserved that because she was acting pretty desperate.
Pauly D…or whatever is just doing his thing.
The girls need to mind their business when the guys invite other girls over.
Angelina is pretty annoying.
Mike “The situation” says “The situation” Too damn much. We get it. There’s a situation that you (the situation) are going to have to take care of. OMG! Stop.
Speaking of situations, Mike’s found himself in a really crappy one, that he doesn’t seem to have the capacity to take care of.
See he was really feeling one of the girls in the house “sweetheart” and they were talking and holding hands down the boardwalk by the end of the first night.
The next day or so Ronnie (the really buff one) tells Mike that he likes “sweetheart” too. Mike thinks nothing of it since Ronnie is “not ‘the situation’ ” *sigh*
Anyways, they go out one night. There Mike and “Sweetheart” kiss for a little bit.
Next thing you know “sweetheart” decides she really likes Ronnie and wants to pursue him so she goes up to him, starts dancing and they start making out…heavy.
Mr. Situation is watching it all go down. Mr. self proclaimed “Player” just got played. hahahaha. I kinda felt bad but not really. The night before he and the guys, except Ronnie, were in the jacuzzi with some naked women.
I like Ronnie. My opinion on him is that he’s going to be the voice of reason in the house. I won’t get into it much. I feel as though I am taking up too much space and time on this. If you watched it you know why I like him. If you didn’t watch it, go ahead and do so.
If you can stomach Real World and ESPECIALLY the challenges then you can definitely deal with this one. It’s really not that bad.
They made dinner for crying out loud. They can cook. They sat down at the table this episode. I can’t remember when that happened at one of these other shows.
So there will be lots of fighting and craziness but if you’ve ever partied hard in your life, these people won’t be showing you anything you haven’t seen already.
So enjoy. I will be watching.
Get ready for Christmas!
Christmas is quickly approaching which means decorating is coming soon….like next week. I think this would add a nice touch on the front window for all to see.
or maybe this one
There are so many doll videos…I didn’t think people really put so many of them on youtube. Yeah …I should’ve known better.
a non santa doll but still christmasy
No more Oprah?!

Oprah has decided to end the show. When I first saw that headline I was like…”aww man” and I was kind of sad.
But then Whew! she’s ending it in 2011. I was all thinking that she was ending it next week/month or something…lol
Throughout the years, I’ve heard some criticisms about her. Some have said “she’s boring”, others have said..”Oh she don’t even deal with her people on her show she mostly deals with upper middle class/rich people.” “Her show doesn’t really help the people that really need help” and some other stuff like that.
Those who think she is boring, It’s not that she’s boring or that her topics are boring, I just think that the vibe of her show most of the time is a little too relaxed and calm for some people so I get it, but you got to be on the look out because the next day or next week she’ll have a show that’s really interesting….and then you miss out.
Although I don’t make it a point to watch her show every single day, I think her show has been a great service to many people. She’s covered all kinds of issues that affect all people.
I think her show has inspired her just as much as it’s influenced other people. I think of those times when she would give money to audience members and they would have to use that money to help others. Oprah’s amazing so she probably would’ve thought of that without the show but the fact that she could do it on TV must have excited her even more. TV, video is just better for documenting certain things. Could you imagine that only being shown in an article in her magazine? The strength of the message would not have come close to what it needed to be if it was just in an article.
I believe her show is journalism at its finest. Why? Oprah has done what so far no one else has been able to do. She’s the only one who’s managed to figure out how to cover issues, or as one of my professors would say ” news that oozes”. It was discussed a lot in college whenever we talked about the problems journalism faces. News covers events and then slightly covers the issues behind it…..when they have to. As soon as the event ends, it almost appears as if the issue ended with it and that’s a big problem when their objective is to be a service to their public.
Regular old news can’t figure out how to discuss broad issues but Oprah has managed to do so. She’s covered everything from world hunger to schizophrenia, bullying, abuse, breast cancer and social class. Think of an issue and most likely she’s covered it.
And that’s why she would be greatly missed on TV when she’s done. It’s almost the end of real quality TV shows that serve a purpose. At least she has her spin off shows like Dr. Oz.
And anyway Oprah is most likely going to do a show on her network OWN so it’s all good.
Quiet! Or you’ll tarnish the children.
Think about this everytime you want to feel outraged about something a child does.
We, the adults, are the gross ones putting inappropriate meanings into everything.
My sister showed this to me today. She said the media was making a big deal about it. She didn’t necessarily think it was so bad.
When you first see them you go “Whoa!!”. I laughed I was so shocked.
“I can see why some adults are upset” I thought but then I stopped thinking like an adult.
Fellow adults, there’s one thing you must always understand about kids.
These kids don’t understand any of the things that they’re doing.
Do you really want to take their innocence away by making them feel guilty about clothes?
To them it’s just clothes. Like a bathing suit. Fishnets, short shorts, and midriffs have no sexual meaning in their world.
Kids are always innocent and I find that it’s the adults that always mess things up for them.
Now with this uproar you have to explain to these kids what fishnets “really” mean, what short shorts are “all about”. For everyone’s sake, we should just be quiet.
These little girls are not doing anything inappropriate.
We are.
Clothes are just clothes. Dancing is just dancing.
Applaud them for their amazing dancing abilities and get over it.
I’ve watched it three times already.
They’re amazing.
